These NRIs also have a false hype that their son or daughter will be like them when s/he grows up in the USA. Keep on day dreaming because that would happen rarely. Here is the quick rundown of the realities.
- Their son daily performs puja .. because parents have advised to do so to earn $200 more in monthly pocket money.
- Their son is fluent in Telegu/Gujarati/Punjabi.. Not really, may be he/she can understand Telegu/Gujarati but when it comes to speaking , a majority of them would prefer to speak in English. And to tell you the truth they know how to speak but do not know hot to read. Even at times, parent would beg the children to speak in the Indian language.
- NRI parents might think that their son Mukesh is an excellent boy. They havetaught him all about the Indian culture, he is just like them. And the next thing his Dad finds out is that he is moving out with his white girl-friend. Mukesh is no longer Indian Mukesh, he is now ABCD “Mike” .
